Review (#17): Blood Promise (VA #4) by Richelle Mead

Blood Promise (Vampire Academy #4)
by Richelle Mead
Rating: 5/5 stars!
Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.

The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?

WOWZA! These books just keep getting better and better.  So much action, unpredictability, and emotions, oh the emotions!

I loved the new setting that is introduced in this book: Russia.  Never have I given a thought to visiting Russia, or even learning the language, but now I want to so badly!  The cities seem so extravagant and the people seem pretty extraordinary.

I finally got to meet Sydney in this book.  We didn't see her for long really, but I must say, I liked what we did see of her.  She seems like a great person, even a great friend.  But of course, no one can replace Lissa.

And Avery, god, what a BIOTCH!  I didn't really expect what came out of her from the beginning.  She seemed pretty great honestly, but boy oh boy was I proved wrong.

I've also grown to love Adrian more, but I still love Dimitri more, even in his Strigoi form.  He seems almost like the same old Dimitri, almost, not quite though.  I still want Dimitri and Rose to be together so badly! They are just so great together, blahhhh!

I hate that we got to meet Dimitri's family but get ripped completely from them when Rose sets off on her other adventures.  They were all so wonderful!!  Hopefully we get to see them again in the last two books!

  1. This was the least favourite of the series. Still awesome but I didn't really like the amount of time Rose spent getting cozy with his family. I wanted him to be de-Strigoied!! I totally have an obsession with Russia too after reading this book. I was contemplating buying a learn Russian audio thing. Glad you enjoyed the book! It only gets better from here :)
